Dolphin Explorer's 10,000 Islands Dolphin Project Featured In PBS Documentary "Discover South Florida"
Marco Island, FL (PRWEB) May 26, 2008 -- Public Television's WLRN-TV's one hour documentary, DISCOVER SOUTH FLORIDA, premiering May 26th, showcases the 10,000 Islands Dolphin Project and the Marco Island/Naples area as one of South Florida's exotic destinations.
The documentary showcases the beauty, splendor and diversity of South Florida's towns, cities and natural treasures. Viewers are whisked away on a virtual journey throughout South Florida that not only explores the major metropolitan areas and exotic destinations, but discovers the people and places that make South Florida a paradise.
Three organizations/persons from the Naples/Marco Island area are featured in the one hour documentary - Myra Daniels and the Naples Philharmonic; Clyde Butcher and the Big Cypress Swamp; and the Dolphin Explorer's 10,000 Islands Dolphin Project, www.dolphin-explorer.com.
"This documentary is fabulous, particularly for those planning to visit South Florida" said Chris Desmond, Director for the Dolphin Project. "It provides a travel map for visitors and residents to to follow and experience the best we have to offer in places, people and things to do...we're privileged to be considered one of these special experiences".
DISCOVER SOUTH FLORIDA will be broadcast initially for three evenings next week-May 26th, 28th and 29th in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. It will then be broadcast by Florida's other PBS stations, followed by PBS stations throughout the United States.
A production of WLRN-TV and produced by VTM Productions, the journey is filmed in High Definition capturing each area in South Florida from the air as well as from the ground, giving viewers a three-dimensional perspective of some of Florida's most interesting and unique treasures.
Underwritten by Sea Excursions Inc., the 10,000 Islands Dolphin Project engages visitors and residents in a structured approach to the study of wild bottlenose dolphins. The results provide valuable research information for resource managers, universities and marine research organizations. While focused on dolphins, the twice daily expeditions on the Dolphin Explorer offer a well-rounded eco-tour experience led by a Master Naturalist.
A special attraction on the Dolphin Explorer is the The "Dolphin Challenge". It is offered to families with children ages six through twelve who want to share a three hour, hands-on learning experience together with wild dolphins and other marine life. At the end of the Challenge, the children will receive the Project's Survey Team patch and become members in the Dolphin Explorer Club.
Sea Excursions Inc. is the largest provider of water-related activities and services to visitors, residents and hotels in Southwest Florida.
